Wednesday, August 15th - Two Museums

This morning, MA slept in while I drove into Louisville to visit the Muhammad Ali Museum. It was very nostalgic watching videos of Ali's bouts in the 1960's and 1970's. He was the best heavyweight boxer of all time IMHO. The museum can be described as equal parts fight history, political activities, religious conviction and personal characteristics (dedication, perseverance, endurance, etc.).

After lunch, MA and I drove around the Ohio Riverfront on both the Kentucky side and the Indiana side. On the local map, I saw "Howard Steamboat Museum" in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Both of us are fascinated by steamboats so, we took the museum tour. The location was the family home built by the Howard family. Howard Shipyard built over 3,000 boats in 107 years. While looking thru the research archives, I found that the Bob Blanks steamboat was built at Howard Shipyard. The
Bob Blanks was the riverboat that MA's great grandfather, John Faye Gomellon, piloted 1903 - 1912. One of the docents found a old photo of the Bob Blanks and a copy for MA.
