Friday, March 30th - Gettin' Ready for Battle!

There is going to be a re-enactment of the Civil War battles of South Mountain and Antietam here in Prado Regional Park on Saturday and Sunday. The sutlers began arriving yesterday and setting up their tents. Soldiers from the US Army of the Potomac and the CS Army of Northern Virginia began arriving today. MA and I were approached about joining the CS Army and participating in the battle re-enactment...they said they had uniforms for us...we respectfully declined. After all, who would look after Gypsy?

There are camps all around us. This is part of the CS Army camp. Two battles are planned for Saturday and two more on Sunday. There are heavy artillery and cannons here. Gypsy will be in her usual beside the bed, inside the slideout hiding place. Tonight there was a column of soldiers marching beside our encampment. Later, cavalry riders clip-clopped by. Tomorrow should be very interesting!

Thursday, March 29th - Big Bear Lake

We drove about 70 miles up to Big Bear Lake this afternoon. It is situated about 7,000 feet and has ski slopes and a sparkling lake. We ate a fine late lunch at the Peppercorn Grille in Big Bear Lake then drove west to Lake Arrowhead, another mountain community. It is difficult to believe that this is southern California!

On the way back to the coach, we stopped in Riverside and walked thru the Old Mission Inn, a Spanish style establishment dating back to the 1800's.

For dinner, we heated up a couple of TV dinners. I was "peeling" some Parmesan cheese to add to my stuffed green peppers and I carelessly peeled off a quarter inch piece of my left index finger tip. OUCH! MA dressed it with cotton and bandages to stop the bleeding. Sometimes I wonder about me.

Wednesday, March 28th - MA Back Home!

Mary Alice flew back to Ontario, CA from Austin today. She arrived about 12:30pm and we immediately went for an In-N-Out hamburger. I had already moved the coach back to Prado Regional Park in Chino. Gypsy and I were very glad to get MA back home.

The furniture sale ended very prematurely on Tuesday. The sale was TERRIBLE! Nobody made much money and we were all ready to call it quits! To make matters worse, I injured my Achilles tendon and missed six days of sales. It is doing fine now but it really needed to be rested.

We are here in Chino until Sunday when we head to Malibu.
